The KOS have dominated New Wave Pro Wrestling since they showed up.

For over a year in 2009-2010 The Thrash Family ran roughshod throughout New Wave Pro Wrestling. Both “Bruisin” Bobby Thrash & “Rotten” Ronnie Thrash are former New Wave Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champions. In mid 2010 personal lives took the Thrash Family away from NWPW. But, upon hearing that on March 3rd New Wave would be closing, they couldn’t resist a one night return. What is their agenda? Only they know that.

Why New Wave will be closing its doors

Since last Sunday, we have been getting a lot of emails and texts, asking our reasoning behind closing New Wave’s doors. Let us start off by saying that when we brought New Wave to San Diego, we did it because there really was no other credible promotion running in San Diego at the time. We wanted to bring to San Diego fans the opportunity to see some great matches from awesome talent. We wanted to expand the scene, along with put a positive stamp on San Diego. We are beyond proud of being able to be a part of giving San Diego fans a good product and some awesome moments.

So, where did it go south? Truth be told, it hasn’t. We’re not broke, we didn’t lose our venue, and we still draw fans. The typical reasons why promotions close don’t apply to New Wave. It all has to do with 2 things:

1. As some know, along with being promoters, we also wrestle on other events. There’s only so much time someone gets in this business to make the most out of their experiences, and we have the same dreams and aspirations as a lot of other wrestlers do. In the last few months, we are wrestling more than we used to and it is difficult to schedule New Wave events around that schedule. We hate saying no to any booking and we’ve had to do it more than once, due to conflicting schedules with New Wave.

2. More importantly, lately, our personal lives have taken a radical change in direction. From new jobs, to new schools, to family, we don’t have the time we used to dedicate to the New Wave school. Because every cent of the school goes into the events, without the school, there is no certainty that the events will be properly funded. And anyone in this business knows how the pattern of a failing company flows. Events get further and further apart, and less and less people come, until finally the promoter gives the talent a bunch of sob stories about how they can’t even pay them gas money, until the promotion finally folds. We didn’t want the product to suffer and we didn’t want to close because we HAD to. We wanted to end the promotion on our own terms and leave with our heads up, gracefully bowing out, while we were still on a good run.

Pre-Show Match: Nick Lovin defeated Jimmy Ray Walker

The owners of New Wave Pro Wrestling promised an announcement that would change New Wave forever. They weren’t wrong. Ryan Stone and David E. Jones came to the ring and announced that on March 3, 2012 NWPW will hold its annual event entitled Tidal Wave. This will also be the final event for New Wave Pro Wrestling. They cited personal and professional reasons as to why they were closing down. But they promised that Tidal Wave 6 will be the best event that New Wave has ever put on.

Ric Ellis defeated Chris Ellis
Throughout the match there were times where it looked like Chris Ellis was going to defeat his older brother. They both knew each other’s moves and it took everything they had to finish the match. Ric came out on top after hitting a modified spinning finsherman driver. The two brothers shook hands after, then Ric gave Chris the floor after an impressive performance.

Joey “The Bone” Barone defeated Ryan Kidd
Towards the end of the match Ryan Kidd looked to have Barone defeated. Andre Machievski came out and distracted Kidd enough so Barone could get a surprise pin on Kidd. A very dejected Kidd left the ring with his head down.

Johnny Yuma defeated Tyler Bateman
Yuma started off the match using some speed and his rump attacks to get the better of Bateman. A very frustrated Bateman took control soon after. It was only a matter of time before Bateman’s manager Raze got involved in the match. At the end Bateman was looking to hit a Northern Lights Driver. Yuma reversed the move which brought Raze onto the apron. Yuma shoved Bateman into Raze which knocked her off the apron. Bateman turned around and fell to Yuma’s Sex-Factor.

Nick Madrid defeated Andre Machievski
Karma caught up with Machievski during this match. Ryan Kidd came out which distracted Machievski. Machievski chased Kidd from the ring and this caused him to lose the match via a count-out. Madrid obviously did not want to win in this fashion but was happy with the victory. As he was celebrating with the fans, Madrid made his way to the entrance when out of nowhere Joey Barone came through the curtain and knocked out Madrid with brass knuckles. Madrid was then helped to the back by officials and staff.

Johnny Paradise defeated Jarek Matthews
The always happy “Straight Edge Suplex Machine” Matthews surprised Paradise with his offense. Paradise thought this would be an easy win for him. Paradise had to resort to underhanded tactics to get the win. Matthews had climbed to the top rope, but Paradise shoved the referee into the ropes causing Matthews to fall. Paradise then set him up for the tombstone piledriver to get the win.

SoCal Crazy, B-Boy, & Mystery Partner defeated The KOS (Terex, Chris Kadillak, & Joey Ryan w/ Mondo Vega)
As usual Mondo Vega handled the introductions for the KOS. After introducing his team, he announced that he had a surprise for B-Boy & SoCal Crazy. He then brought out an original KOS member in Ryan Taylor. The KOS gloated around the ring knowing that whoever SoCal Crazy & B-Boy brought in, that the odds were still stacked in the KOS’ favor. SoCal Crazy announced that they did in fact find a partner, and their partner is….Ryan Taylor. The shocked KOS turned around and Taylor went right after Terex. The KOS bailed and the crowd erupted. After months and months of the KOS playing games with SoCal Crazy & B-Boy, the KOS finally got their just due. The KOS tried to leave and get counted out, but their opponents had other plans. They went right after the KOS and brought them back into the ring. The entire match was chaotic with fighting all over the building. In the end Ryan Taylor gave Terex a huge roundhouse kick to the head, B-Boy followed up with a Shining Wizard, then SoCal Crazy came off the top with a Frog Splash. All 3 covered the Heavyweight Champion and the KOS were finally on the losing end of the battle.

The KOS weren’t too happy about losing so they attacked Taylor, SoCal, & B-Boy after the match. Joey Ryan gave Ryan Taylor his second rope swinging neckbreaker that he calls The Mustache Ride. SoCal & B-Boy came back to the ring with chairs and chased the KOS away. They demanded that commissioner Aerial Star make another match right then and there. But before Aerial Star could make his ruling, Joey Barone interrupted wanting Aerial Star to make a match so he can face Madrid one more time. Again as Aerial Star was about to speak Andre Machievski came out demanding a match with Ryan Kidd. Johnny Yuma then came out, followed by Ric Ellis, then Tyler Bateman, Nick Madrid, Ryan Kidd. It seemed like the whole locker room wanted something from Commissioner Aerial Star.

The commissioner was looking very overwhelmed when Anchors Away came to the ring. After the mob quieted down Anchors Away starting making the rulings on what everyone wanted. Aerial Star was then relieved of his duties as commissioner, then reinstated to active competition when it was announced that Aerial Star will face Ric Ellis in the opening contest of Tidal Wave 6. Johnny Yuma wanted a tag team title shot for himself and RockNES Monsters member Johnny Goodtime. So it was announced that the Silver Heart Radicalz will defend the tag titles against The RockNES Monsters & Violence Unlimited (Tyler Bateman & Funnybone). Ryan Kidd will get another chance at his bully Andre Machievski. Joey Barone will face Nick Madrid in a match where the loser must kiss the winners ass. Ryan Taylor will get a match against Joey Ryan. But the Main Event for Tidal Wave hadn’t been announced yet. Kadillak & Terex both were without matches to defend their respective titles. So a Fatal Four Way match was made. B-Boy vs. SoCal Crazy vs. Chris Kadillak vs. Terex. It will be a two fall match where the winner of the first fall will be the Rapid Division Champion. The winner of the second fall will be the Heavyweight Champion. Plus this match will take place inside a STEEL CAGE! Tidal Wave 6 will be the final event for New Wave Pro Wrestling, but it’s shaping up to the best one ever.

In the opening contest we saw Jimmy Ray Walker and the debuting Chris Ellis (Ric Ellis’ little brother) defeat the makeshift team of Nick Lovin and Andre Machievski. The crowd was impressed with Chris Ellis and we will see him more in the future.

In our next match the impressive Ryan Kidd defeated another debuting wrestler, Johnny Saovi. If Kidd can keep winning it won’t be long before he gets a shot at the Rapid Division Championship.

Next is the Fatal Four Way Match to crown new Tag Team Champions. After the teams entered the ring everyone noticed that Devin Sparks was not with Ric Ellis. Ellis explained that Devin was unable to make it, and he would be taking on everyone by himself. Ellis started the match off but was unable to overcome the numbers and was eliminated. The fans in attendance were shocked to see the RockNES Monsters eliminated next by Paradise & Avalon. Lastly the Silver Heart Radicalz were able to defeat Johnny Paradise & Peter Avalon to become the new Tag Team Champions.

Tommy Wilson was set to take on Scorpio Sky this evening. But an injury forced Sky off the card. Taking his place would be another up and comer. Duke last wrestled in New Wave completely demolishing Incendio Calavera back in July. This time Tommy Wilson was able to pin Duke’s shoulders to the mat for the victory.

Joey “The Bone” Barone is avery confident individual. Some would even call him cocky. On this night he guaranteed a victory. He said that he would beat Nick Madrid and was so sure of himself, if he lost he will dress up as Mrs. Claus for New Wave’s December event. Well, The Bone was defeated. He tried to get out of his bet saying he was only kidding. The new commissioner Aerial Star came out and informed Bone that if he does not fulfill his bet he will be fired from New Wav Pro Wrestling.

In the Main Event of the evening both singles championships are on the line. Terex, Chris Kadillak, & Mondo Vega were taking on the team of B-Boy, SoCal Crazy, & Joey Ryan. If either B-Boy or Terex were pinned they would lose their respective championships. After a grueling back and forth match it looked like B-Boy was about to get the pin on Terex and win the Heavyweight Title. But, Joey Ryan pulled B-Boy off of Terex and superkicked him. Chris Kadillak then hit a frog splash on B-Boy and got the victory for his team and winning the Rapid Division Championship. Joey Ryan aligned himself with Mondo Vega and the KOS. B-Boy has vowed revenge on Joey Ryan.

Here are some video highlights from the event.

Here ye, Here ye, Fans of New wave pro wrestling,
With September 3rd fastly approaching us I felt that such an event needed to be publicly reflected upon. To most of you, my match against Ric Ellis will be just another match on an already stacked card. However, to me, it is much more than that. As a young man in this business I pride myself on setting and achieving goals, and what very few people know is that the very first goal I set for myself was in fact, to step in the ring against Ric Ellis. In the month of June 2010, such a goal was scheduled. Ryan Kidd vs. Ric Ellis at New Wave Pro wrestling “Shock and Awe”. However, it was not to be. The show was unfortunately canceled along with my aspirations of wrestling Ric. By the time the show was re-scheduled Ric had suffered a serious knee injury sidelining him from action for the forseeable future.
*Fast-Foward to the Forseeable future*
At KOS Wars numero uno, Ric Ellis returned to Professional Wrestling advancing in the tag team tournament, a tag team tournament that would not be taking place had myself and Jalen Wu not lost the New Wave Tag team championships. While that is seemingly irrelevant, my point is that while Ric was out rehabing his knee, I was defending titles and wrestling top names in New Wave such as Socal Crazy, Chris Kadillak, and even current New Wave Heavyweight Champion Terex. I dont mean at all to brag but while Ric was slowly garnering what I call “ring-rust”, I was out gaining vast experience against some of the best. My point is, as of present time and circumstances, myself and Mr. Ellis are not too different…

I’ve waited too long for this match to walk away empty handed. Failure is not an option for me at this point. I am nothing without this win. Ric, this isnt personal, I need this.
